Dear Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator, Did you see the recent Cheshire Alert message from your Crime Prevention Officer? We are trying to provide people with information to help protect themselves from becoming a victim of cycle theft. I have summarised the alert below: Insure, register and security mark your bike. Keep your bike out of public view when at home. Store your bike in a secure area and secure it to an immovable object (such as a ground anchor). Always lock your bike and consider the positioning of the lock to avoid the lock being tampered with. When out and about, choose well-lit areas with higher levels of footfall and try to use designated cycle parking facilities. Use a good quality lock and consider additional security measures such as an audible alarm. Use locking nuts/skewers to secure removable parts such as seats. In the event of your bike being stolen, call 101 to report to the Police or 999 if the crime is in progress. If the bike is registered on the national database, update them too.
Can you please share this information with your local Neighbourhood Watch members, family and friends. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to keeping your community safe. Kind regards, Crime Prevention Team It is important to us that we know about the issues that cause you concern. We have set up a survey where you can tell us about the things you would like us to focus on in your area. | ||||
