Gift card scams are  a type of fraud that involve tricking people into paying with gift cards instead of a payment method that can be contested, like a credit card. Once the money is gone - yu will never be able to get it back.

BOGUS BALANCE CHECKING SITES -these are actually phishing sites that steal the card balance when you enter your card information.

GIFT CARD TAMPERING - scammers steal gift cards from stores, alter the barcodes and pin numbers, and then restock them. When a victim activates the card the scammers launder the money.
