It's that time of the year when online activity increases with every festive purchase. But how secure are your personal details?

A simple tool to check whether your email has had a data breach is to check it on on the Have I Been Pwned: Check if your email has been compromised in a data breach website.

Many people do not even know that their email, passwords or other personal details have been subject to a data breach. So checking is a good first step.

If your email does show a data breach, then it means a hacker has obtained your email address (and perhaps other details such as password(s) for a website). This will be a major concern if you use the same password for multiple sites.

Consider changing passwords, especially if you use the same password or variations of the same password.
