Avoid shoulder bags if possible, avoid carrying your bag on one shoulder, as it makes it easier for thieves to grab and run. 

Using a crossbody bag is a safer choice. If your bag isn't a cross the body style, you may be able to quickly attach a long crossbody strap to it. 

NEVER leave your bag open - too often we all leave purses on show in our bags. 

NEVER put your wallet in your back pocket.
